From NewOrderOnline.com (Tim)
Those who had seen the first few UK gigs of 1984 had an idea what to expect in terms of new songs for this mini-tour, as a smattering of new material (all nameless, containing random lyrics and changing tunes) had started to permeate the set, which had begun to lean more heavily on PC&L and later stuff rather than more of the Movement material. Sunderland was an interesting choice of tour starter, gigs in the North East are often pretty rowdy, and this was no exception. The band treated us to a mixed set, including all four of the new songs to date, old stuff in the form of ICB, plus the seemingly ever-present current single Thieves Like Us and Blue Monday. In particular, what later became Sunrise stood out as a top choon, as did Perfect Kiss. I always remember wondering what was hapopening when the frogs started up in that one !
Not a bad start to the tour, but better was to come......
