From NewOrderOnline.com (Tim)
Transcribed by OldMonkey from an interview with "an old bootlegger called Pete".
This was where it all began for me, in a flat field a million miles away from the band's natural environment at the time. In A Lonely Place has never sounded more ironically appropriate, amid thousands of revellers. This was a very disconcerting experience, poor sound stifling any life that Hooky et al were trying to breathe. Everything's Gone Green bleeped and stuttered its way out of our ears, and the disturbing spectacle faded away. I didn't expect at that stage to see them again, but somehow gained a curiosity that made me want to experience the same songs in a more natural environment.
